Fröttmaninger Berg

About

Fröttmaninger Berg is a small mountain and recreation area at the northern city limits of Munich, located in no man's land between the A9 motorway and Freisinger Landstrasse. The recreation area is located on a former landfill site, however, its former purpose is no longer recognisable due to extensive renaturation measures. On top of the small mountain is a large wind turbine that catches the eye when driving into the city from the north. The climb up the mountain takes no more than 15 minutes and from the top you have a great view of the nearby Allianz Arena, as well as the surrounding Munich countryside. The Fröttmaninger Berg recreation area is not only suitable for walking but is also popular with cyclists. In winter, when there is enough snow, the mountain is a great place for tobogganing and can also be used for ski tour training.
